TOP ROD 2011-2013 ROBERT TOUGH
“I had quite a succesful season on Darenth in 2011 and managed to land 3 40lb + fish with around 15 other fish breaking the 30lb + mark also.
In all I landed something like 36 carp with the biggest being the wonderful “steak” at 48lb+, a fish I have caught a number of times over the years since her introduction in the early 90s at a rather more modest weight of mid to upper twenty.
I have now been fishing the big lake on and off since the late 1980s and still look forward to every new season on there, and will never tire of fishing from the fantastic swims the lake has to offer.
I very much plan to be at the opening session for the new season and I wish all members new and old a very succesful 2012.”

What a fantastic start to the new season with seventeen captures over 40lbs with biggest fish hitting the scales at 49lb largest Cat so far 69lb !!!! Many personal bests for new members and some great results for the Darenth regulars………. I recently read an article regarding top fishery’s in the UK couldn’t find any mention of the Big Lake , I personally believe we slot in at three or four boasting 14 acres with 27 fish over forty including commons mirrors and leathers plus five fish that have reached mid fifty at least 60 fish in the thirty pound bracket. No waiting list no exclusive club just a top fishery for normal working carp anglers…… Interested in joining read some of my members articles and then come for a walk around. Ticket prices fluctuate depending on the time of the year…………
Regards Warren Farrance

Darenth Big Lake Matches have been a great success with all spaces taken as quickly they were advertised; bringing many new faces, some old friends and members back to their beloved Darenth Big Lake. The weather was a major factor to the event unfortunately there was a cold easterly on weekends one, two and four a key influence on the fishing, weekend three was hectic with fifteen takes but only a handful of fish banked up to thirty pounds. Weekend four looked favourite with many of the Big Lake regulars taking part, top fish up until then were 27, 28, and 29. The last weekend saw Darenth regular Big Bill Eastwood take third place with a fish of 30.8lb and a joint first place with two different fish weighing in with a weight of 31lb 12 to first season member Steve Foster and an old member of 25 years ago Ade West sharing first prize of a free ticket and half price ticket equating to both guys paying £150 each for their seasons ticket. Well done
Big Thanks goes out to all those that marshalled and I hope the experience was enjoyable for those who took part.
Regards Warren Farrance

Top Rod 2009/2010 season announced – 17/02/10
This season Top Rod is Richard Cooksey with 14 doubles: 42 20lbs, 13 30lbs, 2 40lbs, 1 51lbs. That is an amazing 72 fish in 26 sessions. Value for money? I think so!!!!
Richard wanted to share the following with you:
Darenth is more than a fishing venue to me, it’s a way of life. I acquired my nickname, Richie the Spod, here at Darenth over 25 years ago but I haven’t used a spod for years now. I only use baits. The fish at Darenth have seen it all – every rig and every bait. That’s why I don’t think flavours and rigs are that important. I think a decent bait benefits the health and weight of the carp but location is the most important factor in catching. Find the fish and keep it simple and you will catch. My record for this season was 72 fish – 14 doubles, 42 twenties, 13 thirties, 2 forties and a 51 – in 26 sessions.
